Your Treasury is the balance held in your Tythe Account, a smart contract on Base that your key owns. Tythe holds no keys and no funds, and no Tythe role can move anything out. What follows is how the balance is divided, why each division exists, and the rules that hold no matter who is asking.

The three parts of your balance

Idle

Free balance. Withdrawable at any time with your own key. Spendable by agents within their mandates. Deployable to Lend or Save.

Reserved

Held for the remaining period budget of your live mandates, so an agent is never starved mid-period by a withdrawal or by another agent.

Liened

Pledged as Coverage against your open Loans. Not withdrawable while the Loan is open. Consumed only by the loss waterfall on default.
The identity holds after every action, and is formally verified:
Your console shows all three at once, with the mandate behind each reservation and the Loan behind each lien.

Funding

Send USDC on Base to your account address from any wallet. Funds arriving from a wallet you have bound are recognised as yours; funds from anywhere else still credit the account and are tagged by the Intelligence Layer, which matters for capture if you have an open Loan. Bind the wallets you fund from so the tagging is unambiguous. The account holds USDC only in V1. Additional stablecoins are on the roadmap.

Withdrawing

Withdrawals go to a wallet you have bound, signed by an operator key.
  • Idle balance is always withdrawable. No pause Tythe can invoke blocks it, and no Tythe role can prevent it.
  • Liened balance is not, while the Loan it secures is open. Repay the Loan and the lien releases.
  • Reserved balance is not, while the mandate holding it is live. Narrow or revoke the mandate and the reservation releases.
If you try to withdraw more than idle, the account tells you which reservations and liens are in the way, and what to change to free them.

Reservations, in detail

When you issue a mandate with a budget of 2,000 USDC per rolling day, the account reserves the agent’s remaining budget for that period. As the agent spends, the reservation draws down; when the period rolls, it refills to the effective budget. The reservation is accounting, not a transfer: the funds never leave your account, and no other party can touch them. Reservations exist so that three things cannot happen: an agent finding its budget gone because you withdrew; two agents spending the same dollar; and a mandate being issued that the balance cannot actually support. That last one is the spend envelope: the sum of your live mandates’ effective budgets can never exceed your idle balance at the moment a mandate is issued or widened.

Liens, in detail

When you or an agent draws a Loan, the account sets a lien for a fraction of the principal, set by your Credit Rating band. Setting it requires enough idle balance to cover it. While the Loan is open the liened amount cannot be withdrawn, cannot be reserved by a mandate, and cannot be moved by you. Only the loss waterfall can consume it, only on default, and only up to the shortfall. On full repayment it is released.

What touches your Treasury, and what it needs

Every one of these passes the mandate check and the account’s hook before it executes.

Rules that hold regardless

  • No Tythe key can move your funds. There is no Tythe key on your account.
  • Liened balance moves only through the loss waterfall.
  • Reserved balance cannot be withdrawn out from under a live mandate.
  • An agent can never move value outside its effective scope, on any rail.
  • Idle balance is always withdrawable by you.
